  • Rewards – If you want to receive gifts, cash or vouchers based on your spending, consider a rewards credit card

2 Mistakes To Avoid When Transferring A Credit Card Balance

If you are looking to transfer a credit card balance, you should make sure that you avoid these two common mistakes.

  • Ignoring fees – Most credit cards charge a fee when you transfer your balance to them.   Make sure you know what the fees are before you sign-up.  If you intend to pay the balance back in the next few months, you could actually pay more in fees by switching a balance than by sticking with your existing card provider.
  • Delaying the transfer – If you sign up for a balance transfer deal for, say, 6 months, the 6 months will normally begin when the card provider agrees your application.  If you then wait several weeks before making the transfer, you will have lost part of the promotional offer period.
